The Balneario Caña Gorda is located on the south west region and part of the municipality of Guánica, Puerto Rico. Caña Gorda beach forms part of the Bosque Estatal de Guánica (Guánica Dry Forest) a natural reserve . Aside of the Balneario there is a place to stay  called Copa Marina Resort and some steps ahead of the resort the Ferry station to take at Gilligan Island.

  Caña Gorda is a beach that count with steady calm waters, is not too deep and making this beach very family friendly. The ocean water in this area most of the time is very clear and have a great view to the Gilligan Island. The beach is not very extent, but excellent for some refreshment out from the Caribbean heat. It have a lot of trees for shadowing, there is almost no need for an umbrella here. On some areas of the Balneario Caña Gorda you would step with some algae but is something natural in this area and is just in some spots not the all beach.

The beach have a swimming designated area, a lot of gazebos (33), bathrooms, picnic tables, showers, basket ball court,  dressers, lifeguards and a parking lot. There a small mini market and a place that rents kayaks.

The Balneario is administrated by the municipality and the facilities have improved much better since. It is good for some snorkeling and have a great time in Guánica. It is not perfect and is not the best balneario comparing to others that we already cover, but each one is them offer something unique. This Balneario is excellent for a family trip to the south west region, a visit to the dry forest, some Guánica attractions and jump in into the beautiful and pristine waters of this area.
