Playa La Chiva is part of the National Wildlife Refuge in Vieques Puerto Rico. In the past when the US Marine was used to be established in Vieques the beach was also known as Blue Beach. Locals turns back the original name and today is just known as Playa La Chiva. Playa La Chiva is a natural wonder, protected from constructions, housing or commercial establishments. Playa La Chiva is one the most beautiful beach in the all Caribbean. Is just amazingly pristine, with completely crystal waters and have a long sand shore with ocean gentle waves. On the Background there is a small island called La Chiva (prohibited to go) but just with a scenic perfection. The beach is shallow, making it ideal for kids and have some rocks on the east side that make it very good for snorkeling discoveries.
In regards of facilities, Playa La Chiva is not a Balneario and does not count with public facilities. That means that is a great beach to spend a few hours on it and not the all day. Bring everything that you may need: snacks, umbrella, snorkeling gear, etc.. Reload yourself on the closest town and definitely come back again.
Playa La Chiva or Blue Beach in Vieques is gorgeous, the different tones of blue on that inviting water are going to build one of the most precious moment. It is great for families with kids but also is just an amazing place to share a walk across the shore with your love one. Is just amazing how this beach never get on the map of many and still feel like an undiscovered paradise.

Playa la Chiva se a convertido en una de mis playas favoritas. Tiene un encanto natural con el color azul turquesa y sus arenas blancas. No hay fuerte marejadas y prácticamente la playa es tuya por que apenas hay otros vistantes. Es parte de la reserva natural, venir aquí tiene que ser preferiblemente en un vehículo todo terreno. No hay facilidades de baños pero es un lugar encantador.. Les recomiendo que vengan a verla, no se van a arrepentir.
